For Christmas season, there was a big display of Nativity and Mexican scenes set up at Jardin Zenea, Queretaro's main plaza. After the day of the Three Kings, all the mannequins composing these scenes were removed.

Durante la temporada navideña hubo una gran instalación con escenas de nacimientos y tradiciones mexicanas en el Jardín Zenea, la plaza principal de Querétaro. Después del Día de Reyes todos los maniquíes que formaban estas escenas fueron levantados.

At the reopening of an old Queretaro theater, Filippa Giordano was the main event. Her voice is so intense, she is so charismatic, it was such a pleasure covering that concert.

En la reinauguración de un viejo teatro queretano, Filippa Giordano fue el evento inaugural. Su voz es tan intensa, ella es tan carismática - fue un placer enorme ir a cubrir ese concierto.

Between boring congress sessions, me and a fellow photographer wandered off to a nearby empty theater. Moments later, the great Gaston Lafourcade came in and let us photograph him as he rehearsed with his harpsichord. An incredible private concert.

Entre aburridas sesiones del congreso, otra fotógrafa y yo deambulamos por ahí y acabamos en un teatro vacío cercano. Momentos después, entró el gran Gastón Lafourcade (sí, padre de Natalia) y nos dejó fotografiarlo mientras ensayaba con su clavecín. Un increíble concierto privado.

The relics of Pope John Paul II

On December 12, a wax figure wearing the relics of Pope John Paul II was brought to Queretaro. This, and the fact that it was also the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, made it a huge day for Mexican Catholicism. A lot of emotions were in the air - to me, it was mostly sad watching so many people putting so much faith in superstition. Photographically, it was a great day, though.

El 12 de diciembre trajeron a Querétaro una figura de cera con las reliquias del Papa Juan Pablo II. Esto, sumándole el hecho de que era el día de la Virgen de Guadalupe, significó un día importantísimo para el catolicismo mexicano. Muchas emociones se sentían en el ambiente - para mí, fue algo triste ver a tanta gente depositar tanta fe en supersticiones. Fotográficamente fue un gran día.
